Off-Road Bylaw Back In Spotlight

Chatham-Kent council is ready to take another look at off-road vehicles (ORVs) and where they can drive in CK.

After shooting down the last ATV draft bylaw in November, Staff were tasked with looking into some specifics regarding off-road rules. These include imposing a trespassing penalty for ORV users, and creating a CK-only licencing system.

But because the province already has regulations in place for both these mandates, CK staff don't believe these options should be pursued.

The rest of the bylaw lays out where ORVs would still be banned if approved. While it will be available on municipal highways, major CK highways the city of Chatham, and other towns will be off-limits. It also includes a list of other side roads that would be ATV and ORV-free

Council will vote on the one-year trial bylaw at Monday`s Meeting.
