Equipment Exports Helps Planter Company

A Chatham-Kent agricultural manufacturing company has been able to expand its business with the export of corn planters.

Kearney planters is prepping a large corn planter that is going to France, and owner Barry Kearney says there have been a number of other exports over the years.

"Two years ago we had two that we sent to New Zealand, prior to that we did two to Romania, three of us went to Romania and set them back up," he says. "You start looking on the internet for planters we come up pretty quick our name being Kearney Planters."

Kearney says the big farm machines are so large they have to be at least partially disassembled to fit in a standard 40ft. shipping container.

He says the company has been able to locate planters that meet the specific needs of some international customers.
