The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance continues to struggle with an operating deficit of about $1.8-million.
Chief Operating Officer Sarah Padfield says the hospital board prepared a balanced budget but funding levels changed.
"When we started out the fiscal year we had a plan that we would be in a balanced budget but when we got our final funding information around September we realized our revenue was going to be substantially less," she says. "A $1.8-million deficit is around two days of operation."
Padfield also says the hospital is reviewing a number of departments for savings.
As the health care system evolves she says some hospital services will be offered by other agencies.
