Three Chatham farmers are leading the way in ag innovation, and have been recognized for their efforts.
Blake Vince is one of three local recipients of the recent Premier's Award for Agri Food Innovation Excellence. He got the award for his multi-species cover crop approach.
"It's planted post-winter wheat harvest. Some of the species die through the winter months, and others will begin to grow again in the spring," he says. "We'll plant into that living green cover crop, and then desicate it or kill it with herbicide afterwards."
The other local winners were the Pickle Stations' Jeff VanRoboys and Pride Seeds' Stephen Denys.
