Over 50,000 Water Bottles Collected For Flint

The Windsor Spitfires hockey club has collected over 50,000 bottles of water to donate to Flint, Michigan to help with its water crisis.

The Spitfires collected water bottle donations at the WFCU Centre during their game against the Flint Firebirds on Thursday. The club hopes to collect even more before the donations are transported to Flint on Saturday.

“We didn't really have any expectations in terms of an amount going into this,” says Spitfires Coordinator of Fan Development Nathan Sellon in a media release. “But we're all blown away at the community support we've received. It's an issue that resonates with everyone and, once again, our city has come up huge.”

More donations will be accepted at the WFCU Centre between 4pm-8pm on Friday and on Saturday from 9am until noon.
