PM Threat Suspect Goes To Court

A Chatham man is scheduled to appear in court today in Cobourg, just east of Oshawa, after allegedly threatening political officials on a VIA Rail train.

The 57-year-old was removed from the Toronto-bound train last week after passengers contacted police.

It's alleged the suspect was overheard making threats toward female MPs and the the prime minister's family while speaking on his cell phone.

James Martin Platts was denied bail last Wednesday and held with conditions not to contact any of the individuals he allegedly threatened.

Police say Platts is scheduled to make his appearance in person Wednesday morning.
