Truck Theft Investigation Brings More Charges

A joint investigation that started with the arrest of two people near Wallaceburg in an alleged stolen truck has resulted in more charges against three people.

Chatham-Kent police and the OPP along with First Nations Police worked together on an investigation that started when two people were Nov. 3.

They were eventually charged in connection with 18 thefts of General Motors trucks or SUV's in the Wallaceburg area.

The OPP now say that investigation tied in to the theft of five vehicles in the London area and several other break-ins including one that involved guns.

An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old from the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation and a 17-year-old of no fixed address will face 48 charges.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the second 17-year-old and the other two are in custody.
