Operation Cover-Up Begins

After 29 years in Chatham-Kent, the United Way is making some changes to Operation Cover-Up.

New and gently used winter coats are to be dropped off at Salvation Army locations this year.

"When we really looked it we tried to simplify the process of donors dropping off coats and getting them distributed," says Salvation Army Captain Stephanie Watkinson. "So instead of dropping them off at another location, then we have to pick them up and all that, we're asking donors to just to drop them directly to Salvation Army Thrift Stores."

Distribution of winter coats start today and runs until November 21st.

People who need a coat for themselves or their children, can pick up a voucher, no question asked, at a number of locations.

Vouchers can be picked up at the Salvation Army Family Service offices in Blenheim, Ridgetown, Wallaceburg, and Chatham, the ODSP offices, the Ontario Work offices, and any of the United Way offices in Chatham, Tilbury and Wallaceburg.
