Pelee Island Mayor Rick Masse is confident being part of the revised Chatham-Kent-Leamington riding will be good for his community.
Canada's most southern community is set to have a new federal representative after being moved from its place in the Essex riding.
"I believe that we'll still be able to rely on the Essex riding representatives if need be and it's going to be an opportunity to build new relationships," says Masse. "I believe it's going to be a positive thing for Pelee Island."
Masse points to federal help in upgrading its Scudder Marina and in cleaning up Lake Erie as key concerns for the community.
"I believe the federal government needs to step up to the plate with resources to not only solve the blue-green algae [issue] but the sewage overflows from the major metropolitan areas," says Masse.
Election day is October 19.
Conservative incumbent Dave Van Kesteren, Liberal candidate Katie Omstead, N-D-P candidate Tony Walsh and Green Pary candidate Mark Vercouteren are running in the riding.
