Golf Fundraiser Supports Local Programs

The final numbers are in from this past summer's McLeod Moustache Memorial Golf Tournament.

This year it raised more than $10,000, of which $4,000 will be used to purchase some entertainment equipment for a children's area at the Chatham-Kent Hospice.

The hospice's Director of Development, Jodi Maroney, says they want to make children feel comfortable when they are visiting friends or family members.

"When there is a crisis situation it's difficult for children to be around that," says Maroney. "This way they will have an area where they can go play and take their minds off of what's happening or burn off some energy."

The rest of the money that was raised is being split between the Canadian Cancer Society's Wheels of Hope and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's Oncology Patient Parking Program.
