Sustainable Energy Projects Showcased

An open house showcasing advancements in the green energy sector is being held Saturday in Chatham.

The Green Doors Open House is a province-wide, year round communication campaign, which showcases individual community and commercial sustainable energy projects.

The methane Combined Heat and Power system project at the Chatham Wastewater Treatment Plant is one of these energy advancements.

Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission General Manager Tom Kissner says these kinds of projects can be taken for granted.

"I'm hopefull that this type of event will elevate the awareness and hopfully there will be questions from residents," he says. "We're very proud of our green energy initiatives."

The Chatham-Kent PUC is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the commissioning of the Chatham Wastewater Treatment Plant, which was constructed in the early 1960 s.

The open house takes place at the treatment plant, located 100 Irwin St, from noon until 4pm.
