UPDATE: Police Investigate Shooting

Windsor police believe a 19-year-old man found bleeding profusely on the street near the city's downtown yesterday evening was dumped there after being shot somewhere else.

Sergeant Kevin Bleyendaal says police received the call at 6:34pm on Tuesday to check on a man down injured on Brant St. near Louis Ave.  Police confirm the man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was sent to hospital and is expected to recover.

Police are trying to track down an older black or dark coloured pick-up truck and its driver, described as a white man between the ages of 30 to 35 years old, 5'10" in height, thin build, short black hair and a clean shaven face.

According to police, the truck was seen turning east onto Brant St. coming northbound from Louis Ave. Police say the driver got of out the truck, walked around to the passenger side of the vehicle, pulled the victim from the passenger seat and left him on the road. Police say the driver got back into the truck and drove off eastbound on Brant St.

Police are looking to the public to come forward with any information related to the case.

"We are requesting the public's help in [reporting] anything they may have seen in the area at that time, from 6:15pm to 6:30pm," says Bleyendaal.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830 or Crime Stoppers.
