Almost a year after backing nearly 12,000 solar panels to be built in Chatham-Kent, CK Council is being asked to endorse more.
The latest phase of Ontario's Feed In Tariff, or FIT program means CK will try to add to their green energy initiative. It comes in the form of 1,484 solar panels to be built at the Public Utilities Commission Headquarters.
The nearly 1,500 panels would add to expansive solar panel plans in Chatham, Wallaceburg and West Kent. They were endorsed by council at the end of last year, with a strategy to put panels on municipal buildings like the civic centre and Chatham library.
The company looking to build the panels, Solar Power Network, needs council approval to earn priority points in Ontario's FIT program. Council will be asked for re-endorsement, as well as backing the new panel construction, at Monday night`s meeting.
