The fire is out at 1129 Belleperche Pl. in Windsor thought to have been caused by a lightning strike as a line of thunderstorms roll through the reiogn.
Union Gas crews cut gas to the line as emergency personnel dealt with the dangerous fire. Authorities haven't reported an injuries related to the fire, but confirm the fire had spread along 1137 to 1143 Belleperche Pl.
Power outages are also being reported as the storm sweeps through the region.
EnWin Utilities is reporting most of the 1,700 customers dealing with outages have had power restored. The hardest hit area was bordered by Francois Rd. to the west, Jefferson Blvd. to the east and Wyandotte St. and Reginald St. north and south where power was out for about two hours. About 70 customers are still without power in different areas of the city.
Essex Power is also reporting an outage in LaSalle in the Kelly Rd. area lasted an hour affecting 20 customers. Blown line and transformer fuses because of the storm moving through the region get the blame for the outage.
The storm has also reached west Chatham-Kent with damage reported in the Jeanette Creek area.
