Local Woman's Design Is A Finalist

Chatham's Katherine Moon wants to put a farmer on a Canadian coin.

And she's very close to doing it.

Her design, called "Farmers - Our Lifeline" is one of five finalists in the "Our Passions" category of a competition run by the Royal Canadian Mint.

"I grew up in Merlin, I was surrounded by farmland, and about 90% of the kids in my classroom were farm kids," says Moon. "I thought, let's bring a little bit of attention to farmers."

You can vote for Katherine Moon's design by clicking here.

There is no cap on the amount of votes you can submit, but the contest wraps up October 9, 2015 at 5pm. The winning design from each category will end up being printed on coins in 2017 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation.
