Students will notice changes at a number of area schools when they return next week.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board had just over $3-million to work with for capital projects.
Board Treasurer Jim McKenzie says there's more opportunity for daycare services with upgrades at Ridgetown's St. Michael School.
"We expanded the service there and added more spaces," he says.
Administration also found opportunities to improve energy efficiency at some schools.
McKenzie adds installing LED lights or replacing boilers can mean big savings in the long run.
"Not the most glamorous of projects, but they're important, and everything has its shelf life," says McKenzie.
More life cycle upgrades came at Ursuline College Chatham, with roofing fixes, administration office adjustments and an improved gym floor.
