Urology Changes Support Patients

People who need to see a urologist in Chatham-Kent now have a number of opportunities close to home.

Three urologists from Bluewater Health in Sarnia are holding clinics in Chatham about once a week.

"Before this, patients from Chatham had to go to London or Sarnia to get their treatment done," says Dr. Alvaro Ramirez, adding that the changes mean less travel time for patients. "We see them in Chatham before surgery, we do the surgery in Sarnia, and then we do the post-op visits and the follow-up meetings at clinics in Chatham."

So far, Dr. Ramirez says the feedback from patients has been largely positive.

"They feel that they are being taken care of quickly and closer to home so that they don't have to go to London and wait there longer," says Ramirez.

The on-site clinics at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance started in June.
