Fundraising for this year's Terry Fox Run in Chatham is about to get underway.
Organizers are hosting a movie night at the Capitol Theatre this evening, where they'll air the movie Terry. Co-organizer Jessica Barton says all money raised will go to the foundation and will not being used to host the annual run.
"The run is free, we have a $0 budget so we rely on donations from people in the community to help us put together the run and to put together goodie bags and things like that," says Barton. "So we are looking for anybody who's willing to donate some items or some money to put on the event because it is $0." Organizers will be collecting donations, selling t-shirts, and auctioning off a print of Terry Fox taken during his Marathon of Hope run. Doors open at 6pm and the movie starts at 7pm.
This year's Terry Fox will be held September 20th at Kingston Park, and marks the 35th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope.
