Ridgetown GM Praises New Ownership

The new General Manager at Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club says members and guests shouldn't expect major changes anytime soon, despite new ownership.

Matt Babcock says the recent purchase of the course by Golf North is a positive move for area golfers in part because of the financial strength of the company. "Being a local guy myself it definitely helps with the understanding of the golf environment around the area and all that good stuff," says Babcock. "They (Golf North) take my opinion, and that's definitely a good thing for us." He says members at the course are pretty happy with the services, which Babcock says maybe requires some minor upgrades on the cart paths and cart fleet.

This is Babcock's first experience as a General Manager. The 28-year-old Chatham area native worked at Links of Kent before spending the last 2-years at a course in Alberta (Bolder Creek).

Golf North now owns 26 courses, most of which are centered in the Toronto region, and offers members access to all of its courses, depending on the level of membership individuals purchase.
