Pool To Be Completed At St. Vincent Camp

After being delayed over a year, St. Vincent De Paul Camp will finally have its swimming pool installed for campers this summer.

The pool is expected to be complete sometime next week, with kids already hitting the Bothwell camp this past Sunday.

Camp administrator Kerri Wright says it's important for the attending kids to have a pool at the camp.

"We are at a place where there isn't a water source for the kids to swim in," she says. "A lot of the kids are sponsored and look forward to those water activities to build on their swimming techniques."

Construction of the pool was supposed to have been finished in June 2014, with $40,000 being paid to a local contractor. Unfortunately the project was not completed, leaving a large hole.

Another contractor, Quality Pools in Chatham, has since come forward to finish the project in time for this year's summer camp.

Wright says around 700 kids attend their camp during the summer months.

The camp's administration will still have to pay for the pool and is looking for any donations from the community. Anyone looking to help out can visit the camp's fundraising website by clicking here.
