VIDEO: Boughner Takes NHL Job

Bob Boughner is no longer the head coach of the Windsor Spitfires, as he's joining the San Jose Sharks as an assistant coach.

He says he was contacted by Sharks Head Coach Pete DeBoer early in June, before signing a three-year deal with the NHL team. "It's the same thing as I tell my players, 'Go on, follow your dreams,' and I made no bones about it that one day I want to be an NHL head coach," explains Boughner. "I'm not getting any younger by any means, and it's a great opportunity. Pete's a great coach that I have a ton of respect for and it's a great franchise."

Boughner will be staying on as president and majority owner of the Spitfires, and plans to continue to be very hands-on with the team and decisions made surrounding it.

The announcement of Windsor's new head coach is expected to be made Friday, at 11am.
