Preparing For Fireworks Displays

Canada Day means both public and private fireworks displays throughout Chatham-Kent.

For those who want to host their own nighttime show, Fire Prevention Officer Scott Sproule says safe preparation is most important when holding private displays. "You need to have it in a good base or pail full of sand and earth. Otherwise the fireworks could tip and fire at the crowd as you're lighting them."

Sproule adds wind and the size of the display also need to be factored in. "In general, spectators should be 200-300 ft away."

Here's a list of locations for public fireworks displays in Chatham-Kent. All shows get underway at dusk.

Erieau - July 1

Glad Tidings Church, Blenheim - July 1

Victoria Park, Bothwell - July 1

Kinsmen Park, Wallaceburg - July 1

Tilbury - July 4 (Rescheduling)
