Chatham-Kent Council is looking at its financial future, and it starts with projections for 2016.
Council has motioned to consider an average of 2% tax levy hike, as well as a 1% capital tax increase over the next three years.
But Councillor Derek Robertson is worried staff's potential infrastructure spending could mean less funding later on. "The day will come when the province is handing out money. If we're funding at a greater level than other communities, and they've allowed their infrastructure to erode, guess who is getting the money? It isn't going to be us."
Chatham-Kent is joining other municipalities like London and Calgary to start making long-term budget plans in the future.
