Expanding energy capacity in southwestern Ontario is still on Kathleen Wynne's radar.
The premier thinks Chatham-Kent greenhouse Truly Green's co-generation system could be part of the solution.
"I think this kind of relationship between [Greenfield Ethanol] and the greenhouse is the kind of thing that we need to be exploring," says Wynne, visiting the greenhouse on Thursday. "We've got to figure out our grid relationship."
Industry and local officials have been pushing for increased power capacity to help the region's economic growth.
Truly Green, and other operations like it, have run into the problem of selling excess power back to the grid. The premier says it's an issue she needs to tackle with her energy minister.
"How do we sit down with our greenhouse growers and people who can be part of an energy production system and work that out with the needs of the grid? I just don't have the answers to that at this point," says Wynne.
The premier is in Windsor Friday morning to speak with the Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association before heading to Walkerville Brewery as part of Ontario Craft Beer Week. The premier is then visiting Windsor's annual Greek Village as part of the Carrousel of Nation's 40th Anniversary.
