Localized Flooding Possible

There's no longer a flood watch in effect for Chatham-Kent, but there's still the chance of some flooding overnight.

Jason Wintermute with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says while smaller waterways could spill over their banks, the Thames River is not expected to rise dramatically.

"The watershed is really wet and the ground can't absorb any more water," says Wintermute. "So, depending on how thunderstorm activity and rainfall occurs this evening and overnight, there's still the potential that we'll see more localized flooding occurring."

Wintermute is also reminding residents to be careful around creeks and rivers in the area because their banks are especially muddy and slippery right now.
