Governor General Delegates Tour Windsor

A group described as "Canada's future leaders" likes what it sees in Windsor.

Doug Newson, CEO of the Charlottetown Port Authority in PEI and Co-chair of a Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference study group, says he's most impressed by the downtown core.  "It's a beautiful area.  I think the (Detroit) skyline you see here, and what we've learned about the revitalization and what's gone into the downtown and the waterfront, has been quite interesting.  You know, you hear about the casino and the automotive sector, but it's interesting to hear about some of the other exciting things that are happening in Windsor."

Newson is one of 250 professionals from various industries across Canada, chosen to tour a specific area of the country in a group of 16.  He and his group will then report back to the Governor General about what they've seen, regarding the theme of leadership and innovation, over their 10-day tour.

Windsor was the first stop for group Ontario 1, who will meet with the other groups and the Governor General next week in Ottawa.
