Tragic Death Inspires Local Film (Video)

CJ Bernauer is planning a documentary film exploring life after death in the wake of his sister Emily dying in a September 2014 car crash near Amherstburg.

Bernauer tells BlackburnNews.com the movie, titled Angelbaby, is about finding his sister and not about the charges stemming from the crash.

"There will be reference a little bit to her death and what led to her death, but it's not going to be some kind of exposure thing," says Bernauer. "I'm not going to try and blow the lid off everything and show a bunch of information that's not out there. I just want to figure out where she is really."

Amherstburg police have laid ten charges against five board members of the Shores of Erie Wine Festival and a further charge against Sobeys Amherstburg in connection to the case. Emily, then 18 years old, was working at the festival the night of the single vehicle crash.

"I would always be with her if there was anything she ever needed and it feels like now, we're so a part, I want to find her," says Bernauer. "I don't know if it's as much about closure as it is more of I want to keep her with me as much as I can and if there's an answer I can find in this, I may as well give it a shot."

Bernauer expects to release the movie in September, a year after his sister's death. He's raising money online and has a page on Facebook.
