Fundraising Time For Animal Shelter

Organizers hope to raise $2-million within the next 18 months for Chatham-Kent's new animal shelter.

The Animal Shelter Fundraising Committee announced the start of the campaign after revealing the new shelter would be built right beside the old one on Park Ave. That $2-million will cover the entire costs of building the new facility.

Committee Co-Chair Art Stirling says the journey toward a new building for the OSPCA has only just started. "Without exaggerating, now the really hard work begins. We have to finalize our fundraising campaign materials, and get out there and start visiting potential donors."

Dr. Bruce Warwick was quick to make the first donation of the campaign, promising $25,000 for the cause. Donations can be made by calling the municipality or visiting the campaign website.
