Farm Trailers Still Missing

Chatham-Kent police are still on the lookout for a grain trailer and two gravity wagons that were stolen from a farm in the Highgate area between March 20 and April 25.

Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers Co-ordinator David Bakker says given the location they were taken from, there's a good chance they were all moved at different times.

"The reality is, that as big as they are, all three can be easily moved with a pick-up truck," says Bakker. "They don't need a special tractor or anything else, once they're in motion they'd be quite easy to move down the road."

Most of the wagons and trailers that are stolen in the area end up at a scrap yard dealer.

"Whether they are somewhere in the Chatham area, or whether they are taken to somewhere like Sarnia, we have had numerous farm trailers taken over the last couple of years," says Bakker.

The 25 ft by 8 ft grain trailer is valued at $20,000 while the gravity wagons have a combined value of about $7,000. The trailers are orange and have black tarps.
