Alleged Meat Thieves Arrested

Some work by members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section has paid off.

Officers tailed a Honda Civic starting around 12:40pm yesterday. The vehicle made stops at No Frills, Sobey's, Real Canadian Superstore, and Bob's Food Basics before police approached the vehicle and arrested the occupants.

Investigators say the same man entered each store, and in the end, police recovered approximately $212 worth of stolen meat. Officers say they also found methamphetamine and fentanyl in the vehicle.

A 21-year-old Chatham man has been charged with four counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of drug possession, and failing to comply with bail conditions. A 22-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with four counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of drug possession. A 31-year-old Chatham man has been charged with four counts of theft under $5,000, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, three counts of drug possession, and two counts of failing to comply with bail conditions.
