Panel Recommends Birthing Services Stay

An expert panel says birthing services should continue at the Leamington District Memorial Hospital.

The panel was asked to assess the level of risk associated with closing the existing OB unit at the hospital and has concluded it is unacceptable.  It's report is available online.

Instead, the panel is recommending that birthing services continues under a new model that would include a Navigation Centre Hub where services would be provided on an "as-needed" basis.

A public meeting is scheduled for May 5 at 6pm at the Roma Club in Leamington where the expert panel will present its recommendations to the Erie St. Clair LHIN board and the community.
