Slow Rolling In Chatham-Kent

Co-Founder of Slow Roll Detroit Jason Hall is spreading the message of the benefits of community bike rides.

Slow Roll Detroit schedules massive bike rides for thousands of riders every Monday over the summer. Hall says it can happen in Chatham-Kent too.

"What's crazy is we're actually already in 12 cities, so [Chatham-Kent] can definitely do this," says Hall. "Any community that just has a need for togetherness, those are the ones this really works in."

Hall says in the fifth summer of the ride, about 4,000 cyclists came out.

"When we first started this we really had no intention of it being this massive movement. We just wanted to bring our friends and our community together," says Hall. "Once we started breaking down the walls of being able to see what's on the other side of things, the ride just started to take off."

Hall was speaking at the TEDx Chatham-Kent speaker series held at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham on Thursday.
