86 Child Porn Charges Laid

After a lengthy investigation that began in May 2013, Windsor police have laid 86 child porn-related charges against a Windsor man.

Windsor police believe there are 23 victims, 16 of them between the ages of 10-16. A 14-year-old has been identified to be from the Dallas, Texas area. Police say the remaining victims are located around the globe, not locally. Officials also say this is the largest number of child porn charges they've ever laid in a single case.

The Internet Child Exploitation Unit began investigating Daniel Nickolson, 48, on June 4, 2014. The following day police searched a residence in the 2800-block of Turner Rd. and charged Nickolson with two child porn offences. After combing through online chat messages, photos and videos on the suspect's computer, he was charged with 21 additional counts between July and August.

Police say Nickolson has been in custody since his arrest in June.

On Wednesday, police laid an additional 63 charges against Nickolson, bringing the total number of charges to 86. The charges include extortion, luring, distributing, accessing and possessing child porn and invitation to sexual touching. He's also been charged with making child pornography, uttering threats, invitation to sexual touching, making sexually explicit material available to a child and agreement or arrangement for sexual offence against a child.

Windsor police are reminding parents to monitor the online activity of their child and encourage them to report anything suspicious or inappropriate.
