Chatham-Kent Hospice Construction Begins

Foundational work has already started at the Hospice's future location on Adelaide St near Wellington St in Chatham.

Officials say this will continue until around mid-August, when interior work will get underway. The entire process is expected to be wrapped up later in the fall.

Executive Director Jessica Smith says the support they received prompted them to get things moving quickly. "By the support we were shown by the community, and the fact we were able to exceed our goal within less than a year, that really put us into high gear in order to move ahead with the construction."

Until construction is complete, members of the public can tie a ribbon in memory of a loved one on the fence of the construction site.
