Golf Courses Survive Harsh Winter

With warmer temperatures upon us, some area golf courses are reporting good conditions coming off the harsh winter.

Head pro at Kingsville Golf and Country Club Kyle Booker says they opened April 2. "We didn't have too much winter damage," says Booker. "Fortunately this past winter, with all the snow we had and the cold temperatures, the snow stayed, which almost acts as an insulator to the golf course."

Meanwhile, owner of Country View Golf Course in Chatham Randy Hooker says their greens held-up well. "This is the third time we've cut them already and they look in really good shape."

Hooker adds they're introducing foot golf this season, which is played with a soccer ball on separate greens and tee boxes on the course. He says the fees for foot golf will be less than regular golf and hopes to have it up and running by the April 17 weekend.
