Chatham Landmark Up For Sale

Lynda Defour bought the Montreal House back in 1989 when she was just 29 years old on the advice of a friend.

Fast forward to 2015 and life has changed in the last 26 years. Defour is responsible for her mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's, her two children have grown-up, and she says it's time to move on.

As for who buys the business and the adjoining lot, Defour would love to see an entrepreneur buy the establishment and keep the restaurant and bar running. "I think it's a wonderful location," says Defour. "It has great exposure, the customers here are the best that there are, but it's long hours, hard work, and it consumes you." Defour put the for sale signs up on Sunday but says it's been listed since the beginning of last year.

In total, the three lots that make up the property are being sold together for a list price of $699,000. She believes the building dates back to the 1800s.
