Local farm advocates are happy with a council decision to buy the track on the former CSX rail line connecting Dresden, Tupperville and Wallaceburg.
Louis Roesch with the Kent Federation of Agriculture is hoping running trains on the line again will help the farm and general economy.
"You can't go forward if we continue to stand still, there are a number of things that are being looked at right now," he says. "It definitely affects us the (elevator) companies still have to make a profit but if they make a larger profit we get a little bit of that profit." Roesch says the closure of the line put several elevators it served at a disadvantage, and he is also optimistic about the chances of attracting a fertilizer plant if an operator of the line can be found.
