The S'Aints Sleighing Hunger

Local food banks in Windsor and Chatham-Kent, as well as the Windsor Downtown Mission, are getting a boost.

St. Clair College, Caesars Windsor and local musicians The S'Aints have come together to raise $30,000 which will be split between the mission and 18 food banks.

President of the Windsor-Essex Food Bank Association June Muir says this donation comes at a great time, as the Chrysler plant is expected to shut down for renovations in the near future. "We know that that time period for 16 weeks, people might not be eligable to collect EI. The others will feel it at the feeder plants; they might have individuals that are laid off and need our support. So, we really don't know what's going to be facing us."

The donation money is raised through The S'Aints CD sales and "Sleighing Hunger" Christmas concerts, along with contributions from Caesars and the college.
