Residents in East Kent are pleased to see minimal service cuts for the 2015 municipal budget.
At Chatham-Kent's second budget open house in Ridgetown, some residents were happy to see funding for centres like the Ridgetown Library or Ridgehouse Museum remained untouched.
Marlee Robinson of Morpeth disagrees with making cuts just to avoid a tax increase. "Cutting back to zero, it sounds great. But if it means reducing our quality of life by doing that, then we're just going to continue on a downward slope as far as our population goes."
Ridgetown's Jeff Geddes was shocked to see human resource benefits, like social housing, aren't seeing big cost increases. "Health costs and social costs go up significantly, and I was quite surprised that they were holding them at 1%."
The final CK Budget Open House will take place at the Active Lifestyle Centre in Chatham on Thursday, January 29th at 4:30pm.
