Ontario grain farmers are feeling the pressure of provincial regulations since the last provincial election.
This particularly pertains to requirements placed on pesticides and insecticides.
Grain Farmers of Ontario Vice-Chair Mark Huston says they've noticed a disconnect between farming regulations and the people the laws affect. "We're feeling it from provincial government and society in general to make changes to our practices, but not necessarily based on the science we know and that we're comfortable with."
Huston adds short-term studies aren't reliable sources to base legislation on when it comes to pesticides.
