Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne isn't giving much away when it comes to the future of Windsor's assembly plant.
He says re-tooling being done at the facility this year is costing the company around $2-billion, but adds the minivan won't be around forever.
He won't commit to the idea of building a new crossover vehicle in Windsor either, saying the new machinery going into the plant will be versatile. "The architecture has been developed to be shortened and made narrower, so it has multiple applications outside of the Windsor plant if we have to."
Marchionne isn't ruling out building a CUV in Windsor, but says the priority is building the newest minivans there first. He's expecting to make an official decision on where the crossover will be built sometime this year.
