Baking Program Still Possible

The idea of using the Capitol Theatre Annex as a downtown campus ended a long time ago, but having a baking school in the downtown is still possible.

Thames Campus Principal Lynn McGeachy-Schultz says it's a matter of finding the right location.

"We are still committed to trying to bring a baking program to our Chatham campus and we are still hoping we will find our perfect home in downtown Chatham," she says. "We need probably 12,000 square feet that's clear span with no poles or pillars in the middle, we have to have accessibility both in terms of students and shipping and receiving of goods."

Money is also an issue. The municipality had pledged over $1-million to assist in setting up a campus, but at that time the preferred site was the Capitol Theatre Annex.
