The Chatham Maroons beat the St. Thomas Stars in a close 5-4 game following a shootout.
During the game on Sunday, the Maroons took an early 2-0 lead by the end of the first period. However, the Stars cut the lead in half with one goal in the second. St. Thomas was able to take a 4-3 lead in the third period, but Chatham was able to rally and score one more goal to force overtime. After no scoring in OT, the Maroons overtook the Stars in a shootout.
"I think it was just probably a case of the guys getting worn down," he says. "They battled all night, no different from last night. The kids just kept battling and battling, and we found a way to win, which is unbelievable."
The Maroons return to the ice on Sunday, January 4 to take on the Lambton Shores Predators at 7pm.
