Food Baskets Packed And Ready

Food baskets are set to go out to those in need in the Chatham area.

Chatham Goodfellows President Scott Williston says the baskets were put together this morning at the Spirit and Life Centre. "We get about 400 volunteers here alone today that pack those food boxes," says Williston. "I had about 50 here yesterday doing the setup and we have supervisors in charge of each line. It's just like any production line in a factory, otherwise, it wouldn't go together."

Approximately 1,500 food baskets will be delivered today by about 500 volunteers including members of the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment in full uniform using military vehicles. Williston adds over 450 toy baskets that will reach about 800 kids went out yesterday. Union Gas was the biggest contributor this year, with almost $40,000 in cash, food and toys combined.

Chatham Goodfellows covers the city proper and the four townships that touch Chatham.
