The Chatham-Kent Hospice will be built at the corner of Wellington St and Adelaide St in Chatham.
Council has approved the construction of the 944 sq. m building, along with paved driveways and a parking lot.
Board of Directors Chair Jennifer Wilson hopes other communities will take note of the inexpensive model they've created for the hospice. "I'm hoping this model can spread across Ontario because it's not just our community that needs specialized end-of-life care, it's all the communities."
The Chatham-Kent Hospice needs to raise $5 million by the end of the year.
