Students Collect Books For Sick Kids

Hundreds of sick kids and their families have more reading material to brighten their day thanks to a group of grade 12 students at Ursuline College Chatham.

Halle Crane and three of her classmates recently collected more than 1,200 books for the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto and made the trip there to hand them over in person.

"My sister and I had a good friend who passed away 10 months ago because of lymphoma cancer and he was in the sick kids hospital," says Crane "We wanted it to go to something that really meant a lot to us and it did... They (the kids) were all smiles and you could tell they were excited to have a visitor and see the amount of books we had to bring."

The students organized the book drive as part of an assignment in their leadership class.
