Tyler Turner led the 73's with two goals and two assists, while teammate Jordan Ryan added two goals and an assist.
Sharks goaltender Adam Leboeuf was busy in net, facing 44 shots.
Essex is back in action tonight when they head to Wallaceburg to face the Lakers. Wheatley is off until Sunday when they host the Dresden Kings.
