Eleven people face drug and illegal gambling-related charges after an OPP and Windsor police investigation.

Nine search warrants across Windsor, Amherstburg and London lead to the seizure of $127,000 worth of marijuana and cocaine, along with another $51,000 in jewelry, cash and weapons. The accused range in age from 21 to 43, and face a total of 43 charges.

Windsor Police Superintendent John St. Louis says illegal gambling rings aren’t that uncommon in this region. “Interestingly, one of the parties arrested, we investigated his father for illegal gaming operations years ago. So it’s a crime that does come up that we need to focus our efforts on.”

The OPP and Windsor police started this investigation in 2012 when the agencies got a tip from police in the Greater Toronto Area.
