Thames River Dredging Update

The dead trees littering the mouth of the Thames could soon be removed.

With a little bit of help from the provincial government, work may soon get underway cleaning the mouth of the Thames River.

Town of Lakeshore council will be submitting their application for the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund over the next day or two, in the hopes of getting $25,000 to help pay for it.

Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain, says plans are already in motion.”We have bids on it from three contractors to go in there and remove the dead heads and the larger trees floating in the water to make it  at least safe for boaters, “says Bain. “The second phase of it, will be working on long term dredging.”

Bain hopes to see the removal of the trees completed before the snow flies.
