A Wallaceburg woman is facing charges after allegedly trying to steal $2200 worth of headphones.
Chatham-Kent police claim a woman went into a Chatham store Wednesday afternoon, emptied a box of bubble wrap of its contents, and filled it with 16 pairs of high-end headphones before taking it up to the cash register.
After paying for what the clerk assumed was just bubble wrap, the suspect left the store. Employees called police with a description of the woman and the van she left in.
The vehicle was tracked down in Wallaceburg an hour later and the suspect was taken into custody. The 38-year-old is facing charges of theft, possession of stolen property, and obstruction of justice for giving officers a fake name.
